If Sega really is "reintroducing" Sonic characters in 2014 (NOT A REBOOT)...

Who would you like to see, who can just disappear? Which 5 characters (other than Eggman and Team Sonic of course) would you want to remain most of all, and why? My choices would be:

1. Blaze. She is a great character and a much better female "lead" than Amy.
2. Metal Sonic. Do you really need a reason?
3. Silver. BEFORE YOU RAGE: Although the "My Future Was Destroyed" thing came up in THREE out of his four games, I thought he was a fairly unique character. I personally loved the fact that he had psychokinesis and personally hope he'll be playable in a game where they're implemented better.
4. Espio. Sonic Rivals 2 showed that he can function well without the Chaotix dragging him down, and I'd like to see his "voice of reason" not get drowned out by Vector and Charmy.
5. Shadow. I'm convinced that Jason Griffith forgot to audition for him, because there is NO WAY that SEGA would have hired the current voice over him had he put his name down. This is the only reason he's not higher on the list (I also wanted Jet to make more cameo/ short appearances, like in Mario and Sonic and SBK).

I just hope I haven't infuriated you guys.

4. Shadow (Decently, like in Sonic Battle)

I seriously don't have a problem with Silver. He was an alright character he just didn't have a good VA to execute his lines properly
I didn't like how this 'new' guy just comes along and beats Sonic though. That was wrong.

Other than that, he has a good back interesting back story that's game material.

As for your ideas, all of them, except Metal Sonic.

Metal Sonic to me is just terribly overrated, he is so non-threatening compared to Shadow or Silver. While Shadow and Silver brought Sonic to his knees at one point, Metal has done jack.

You do realize if the devs want Metal Sonic to bring Sonic to his knees, then he will, right? It's not like he's weak or anything. It's not like he exists.

I was addressing OrnusTheRaven.

Even in Sonic's first "battle" (race is a more appropriate term) was not what I'd expect from Sonic's "Ultimate Rival" as so many people make him out to be.

And I'm addressing to you.

But let this be clarified:

a) His "battle" is unique, exactly because it's an actual RACE.
b) He is charismatic. Being Sonic, except metallic, he is the true expression of the rivalry inside Sonic's earlier concepts - scale from nature to machinery, achieving speed etc. Besides, he has a genuinely evil figure, adequate to what villany in Sonic could be.
c) This approach hasn't been around for a long time. Metal Sonic expresses the classic saga better than anyone because he stayed there. His comeback in Sonic Heroes was way different than the original appearance in terms of... well... everything.
d) There is a whole movie based on him. This only makes his popularity grow. Strange, isn't it?
e) He doesn't talk cheap like Shadow or Silver. He's just there, his purpose is clear.

Knuckles is part of Team Sonic.

Top 5?

The other 3 would be the Chaotix or Classics that got trashed. If I had to choose otherwise, Silver immediately, since he's got awesome potential. I'm not sure, Rouge?
Maybe add a few more characters, but just make them in the style of the classic games?
