Default Lollipop Chainsaw: Cuts Too Close to the Bone for the Average Gamer

Lollipop Chainsaw is awesome. I give it an 11 out of 10. I understand why gamers hate it, but for all the reasons they think it the worst game ever, I think it completely awesome.

The average gamer will pretend that visuals, sounds, story, dialog, etc. don't matter. All that matters, they claim, is gameplay. This is obviously untrue--If it were, why are they always so excited for prettier remakes of old games? Lollipop Chainsaw is a beautiful game with great music--much better than the average retro-wannabe platformer--, entertaining characters, and dialog that I'll find myself quoting now and then. Unfortunately, Suda 51's masterpiece committed a cardinal sin against the gaming community: He insults nerds.

Gamers are always telling everybody else to chillax whenever a game offends an entire group of people, but these same people get butt-hurt when a game pokes fun at them, even in jest such as this game. The antagonist is a NERD while the protagonists are chereleaders and jocks. This brings back bad memories for the average gamer, and so they'll hate the game even though the game's just a parody of everything it does. "You wouldn't be laughing if they made fun of you,," the gamers will say. Yes, I admit, I'ma total jock who dates a super hot cheerleader, but even if the game was diffferent, and my characters were the bad guys, I'd still like it. After all, I liked Mean Girls, didn't I?

Your average retro platformer like Mario or Rayman don't have any personality, and it makes the game pretty boring. Lolllipop Chainsaw is full of perosnality, and although most gamers will go: "Eww! Girls! I don't like this game. They're annoying. Give me that stupid purple star on MArio Galaxy 2 instead!" those of us who like good music, rockabilly, 80s stuff, and satire will love this game.

The only complaint I have is the abundance of quicktime events, but that's forgivable. It's short, but most people don't sppend entire weekends just playing games. I still don't get these people who go: "This game's only forty hours? That's just one weekend for me. No thank you!"

In summary, this game is better than the typical crap that people like, but most gamers won't appreciate it because they're overly sensitive.

My final score: 9.5 out of 10

You know, in a review, you actually talk about what makes the game good or bad. There's pretty much just 2 sentences in the post that are actually about Lollipop Chainsaw and the rest of it is just how much you hate casual gamers.
What about the controls or level design or anything else that's actually related to the game?

I didn't feel any of that was relevant to the review. After all, the quality of controls and level design can be so subjective. Many "hardcore" reviewers docked the game because when Juliet starts a move, she's stuck in it to completion, but to me, that just means you can't button mash like a moron. Seriously, what's with these buffoons docking points from games when they require you to use some thought in your attacks? They did the same with BloodRayne. I bet they hate it when they perform a super move on a fighting game and miss, leaving them vulnerable for a second. "This game is broken! I should never be vulnerable no matter how carelessly I play!" But I digress...

I hope you're not under the impression that everyone who disliked the game disliked it due to the main villain being a "nerd" (he isn't, by the way, he's goth) or because the main character was a "cheerleader." That would be a totally judgmental assumption and a huge generalization.

I don't appreciate Lollipop Chainsaw because it's relying on it's outrageous-ness as its selling point yet the game itself is average-mediocre, and I cannot get over how horribly animated the facial features are.

Nerd, goth, they all look the same when stuffed into a locker.

And I'd say only about a half hate the game because of the flashbacks; a fourth hate it because of the use of the F-word; another fourth hate it because they are Internet trolls who want to damage Suda51's business.

Doesn't every game do that? I can guarantee you that Rayman's generic platforming romp wouldn't have been as well-received if it wasn't milking the nostalgia addicts who'll buy anything that's cartoonish; same with all those crappy indie games. Heck, would Super Mario Galaxy 2's horrible bottomless pit-filled stages and stupid gimmicks that resulted in trial and error been as beloved if Mario's stupid face wasn't plastered all over it?

It's Suda 51. I hated how people were complaining about the character being over sexualized, but that's the point of the game?
It's over the top and it's not meant to be be taken seriously, just like No more Heroes.

I hated the look of it because it seems to be trying to appeal of its stupid sexy girl imagine instead of the contents of its game. I also hate the art direction hugely. Granted I've never played the game and have no interest. You can say its stupid on my part but Its their job to sell me on the idea of the game.

Plus almost everything Suda 51 has done has be pure over rated crap and mostly only got attention by ninny fanboys as being an exclusive.
