Base location question

Where should I build my bases? Near my main or should I go 300 squares to a tower? Can I move my main? I want to do the right thing but there are no of those little towers available within 20 squares and so I dont know what to do.

well if want to hunt towers, 300 squares away or else close by

You cannot move your main from one base to another.
What you do:
Create a far away fort near a tower with siege unit.
Send you main to it and once cleared, siege the tower.
Use your base to link to others towers. If you are too far, remove the base and build it nearer.
=> This takes time, that is why to be efficient it is better to do this in small teams of 3-4 players.
With such a team, you can clean 10 towers a day!

Well, is there a disadvantage to having base hundreds of blocks away from the main? Is this typical?

Disadvantage: less bases to defend your castle
avantage: if bases near your castle are destroyed you can still use these bases for your development

At start of the game the interest of these bases are for tower hunting to get DP. The disadvantage is that it costs you time and resources to create then destroy these bases. But you win DP and with DP you can buy great monsters...
