Default Should NiGHTS get a reboot or sequel?

NiGHTS is a amazingly great game that I wish more people knew about . I'm hoping if this HD port coming out sells well. NiGHTS will become relevant again.

What do you think? Should NiGHTS get some form of Sequel/Reboot? Or should it be left as it is?

Nights should receive a sequel really worth of the first faboulous game (journey of dreams was a "nightmare").
A Nights 3, maybe with the hedgehog engine or with even a better engine, created with the same spirits of the first game (no talking owl) would become a masterpiece.

I think SEGA have been really clever here. Their most successful way of gaining money nowadays is by selling it online, via PSN, XBLA and Steam. By releasing NiGHTS on there, it (hopefully) will sell well. If that happens, more recognition will be pumped into the NiGHTS brand and SEGA should have enough money to make a sequel and make an earning out of that.

Good way to bring a great (but dead) franchise back to life, I think.

Sequel. Yes, I've heard JoD wasn't as good as the first one, but unlike Sonic, there isn't much to reboot. NiGHTS, Reala, and Wizeman are pretty much the only reoccurring characters, and with Nightopia being a dreamland, it's a better idea to just create new levels.

Only if it can be done right...

The original game was great for a couple of reasons

    1) It was a unique score attack game where you could go round and round making as much points as possible against the clock by being really good at flying. It was a cool concept... In the sequal this was dropped completely but it was such a fundimental part of the experience I can't believe they did that!

    2) NiGHTS itself was such a great character because it was so mysterious... You just had no idea of its personality or motives. It was awesome... This was totally killed off by giving NiGHTS a voice. (the script was terrible too). I don't care if the children talk or if the bosses talk or even Reala... But NiGHTS should be a scilent protag and that should never change.

    3) The beautifully crafted levels were just magical... This is the one thing that also rung true in NiGHTS JoD on Wii... Well, when you werent playing as the kids anyway. That sucked.

Yeah, there were only 2; The original NiGHTS into Dreams, the one that's being ported, and Journey into Dreams, a Wii sequel. Like I said, There's not much point in rebooting something with only 2 games.

I don't think a reboot would do anything positive for the NiGHTS franchise.

    I'd prefer a great sequel!

Meh, the franchise is too small for a reboot.

What is a reboot anyway? In Tomb Raider, its an excuse to go back to re-write the back story without worrying about plot holes.

However NiGHTS is a story about a dream world told from the kids perspective, so it could happen a thousand times and still be presented as the first time anyone has seen nightopia. That is part of its beauty, that its living in a colourful fantasy land that doesn't have to be remotely realistic. Its a dream world, literally, all bets are off. So it doesn't need a reboot, any sequel would naturally BE a reboot, because there is no good reason to refer to what happened before when its from the kids perspective - they don't know what happened before.

If JoD told us anything, its that changing the mechanics of a game like this just kills the game. It was always meant to be a simple but fun game to play. The ONLY thing I would ever want from a sequel would be a game identical to the original, but with new levels to learn and master.
