Default Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time coming to PSP / PSN on July 31st!

Anyone else here excited for this game?

Growlanser Generations (PS2) was (two of the) best RPGs I ever played. What I love most about this series is that in the major battles "killing all of the enemies" is not the only obejective. For example, during some battles there are civilians that will be killed unless your party can rescue them, sometimes you're trying to prevent an enemy from escaping, sometimes you're just trying to survive until you can retreat from a force too powerful for your party.

Growlanser also has the most complex relationship system I have ever seen in a RPG. In addition to many dialogue choices that affect your relationship, your companions will actually like you more if you are a successful leader in battle. The game has over 40 possible endings based on who you befriend and what choices you make.

Yeah. However, in this case I can completely understand why they couldn't include voice acting outside of the cutscenes:

The game is on the PSP (which was never very popular in North America), the series is not very well known, and the amount of dialogue in this game is staggering. When all of that is taken into consideration I understand why they had to keep localization costs as low as possible. I just hope this game does well so that we can get the first Growlanser in English someday.

Well.. Maybe, some group or person will be able to add voice to the game via the method of undubbing except I find this game difficult to succeed as that there is no audio track to begin with. Inserting an audio track isn't too possible, I guess.. Oh well, another game joins Shining Tears! Luckily, I have the Japanese versions of these two voiceless games..

And of course, I understand the localization costs.. It couldn't be helped..

I got it the other day, but have to finish a game or two before I start. Probably next week or so.

As of yesterdays's PSN update, the game is downloadable from the Vita store.

I'm pretty far into the game and really enjoying it. The first couple hours are slow, as it's basically a tutorial / introducing characters, etc. But after that it becomes very fun and addictive.

Really like why not just push all us psp releases to vita by now. Even the increased resolution would be nicer.
