With Sonic Generations, I am just having fun. Instead of playing a game I focus on 100% and take very serious.

No, as I mentioned before. The only Modern Sonic games I've played are Sonic Adventure DX and now Sonic Generations.

1991-1997 is Classic era
1998-2005 is Dreamcast/Adventure era
2006-now is Modern era

It's not that black and white. 06, while technically a modern game (and even then the only reason it is is because it's on the same console generation as the others), is more characteristic of a Dreamcast Era game in terms of gameplay.
