It is funny if you have the mental image. However even when I'm the one who brought it, I know that it is a very biased oversimplification of things because it ignores (on purpose) many other factors. Normally it would be used by pedantic fans who want to appear as the "sane ones" but I threw it in for lulz.

On the first part I agree, however condemning the other teams when team Sonic's reason to enter was "I'm challenging you to stop me in 3 days because I'm gonna troll the world for the lulz" is kind of a double standard (more when some members like Knuckles had no reason to be there and being thrown only for fanservice). Heck IMO the other teams had more believable reasons to be there. (at least team Rose who were after Chocola and Froggy, who apparently were an important part of Metal's plan as well as the Chaotix who were hired by Eggman out of an emergency)

Does that mean I dislike any of those characters or feel they damage the series? No. I love Team Chaotix with all my heart and Rouge and Shadow are among my favorites. But they had a poor reason to be in there.

Games featuring Mighty, I feel, with a correctly formatted story and gameplay tweaks would bring a lot to the table and open knew doors and the fans who want Mighty will finally have a grin on their face so big they'll poke holes in their wallet with their cheeks.

Of course, there will be fans saying "OMG U RUINED MIGHTY", but those are always unavoidable.
this is pretty much what i said earlier about scrapped and comic characters, use them when the series needs them. as for mighty specifically he should have been used in heroes instead of big and would have made the story a lot more interesting between him and the cahotix. and that kind of atmosphere could still be used in the future.

Sega just has a problem with pumping the series full of characters regardless of wether or not they are needed or fit well for the story, just look at colors on DS and how many people they shoved in.

He's still cartoony now, though and still has that mickey mouse face, just in a different way.

I'm tired of looking at the modern cast that we have and have had since SA2, I want to see Mighty and Fang return because they can make the game feel more fresh so we don't have to look at the same dull characters all the time.

I would like to also see the chaotix play a bigger role in a story.

I would say that bringing back older unused and forgotten characters is much better than introducing countless new ones.

I can somewhat agree with this. I wouldn't mind new characters if some of them were permanent or had some bearings in the franchise.

I think we'll start to see that change, given that SEGA wants to start focusing on merchandising again. That usually means, lets establish more characters so we can make more toys/etc.
