These statements are indeed very correct.

In 2011, there was supposed to be a second or even third Sonic title.
However in 2011, there was only 2011's Sonic Generations.

And also, SEGA of Japan's official Japanese Sonic website
still has 2010's Sonic Free Riders as part of its 'current' line up:

As for the voice actor of Sonic.

SEGA of America changed their dubbing studio for the Sonic games in 2010,
most likely due to a political thing.

These days, the one with the most experiences as Sonic is
Kanemura Jun'ichi / 金丸淳一 , Sonic's Japanese voice actor.
Since that he has been voicing Sonic since 1998's Sonic Adventure.

Besides, Kanemura Jun'ichi also voiced another speedster. Kazami Hayato!



A much junior Sonic's Japanese voice actor is Seki Tomokazu / 関智一 ,
the voice actor of Sonic the Werehog. That also voiced a hover skater.
