I'm getting a little sick of this "simplicity" style. Not because I think it's stupid, but because EVERYONE is doing it now. I'm not that bothered by it, and they are good logos, but I just see a lot of this now.

The fonts are just so boring and plain to me, but if it's attracting people, that is a good thing.

I agree. Belk is one of the worst examples.

Microsoft is the future, and Apple is the company that is suffering from greed issues, and is more concentrated on suing and making money rather then innovating.
I don't agree with that. Rounded edges are actually less dramatic and less intimidating than sharp edges. Also, Apple's look and style has a people feel to it. It's true that they use minimal colors, but it works. It doesn't look intimidating or corporate or anything. Apple's products actually look more like modern minimalist art rather than a machine and their various logos represent that. Now, if you want to see a company who has a logo, a name, and a culture that seems oppressive, evil, and machine-like, look no further than IBM.

Look at that. You have big blocky, thick letters with sharp edges. It has a very industrial-machine feel to it. It also looks like you're looking at static from a television. No wonder why Apple used to compare this company to Big Brother.

As far as comparisons go, the only reason Apple is seen as being evil by anybody is because they are #1 in a lot of things. It has more to do with that than their actions. In the 90's, it wasn't just about Microsoft being number one. This was a time when Bill Gates proclaimed that he was more powerful than the President of the United States. This was a time when Microsoft was knowing breaking all sorts of laws and in some of the worst ways possible. Today, Apple does things that others don't like, but they aren't nearly as unethical as Microsoft was 15 years ago.

But I will agree with one thing. Microsoft in now could be in it's redemption phase.

See, it's not just about trendiness. There's a more practical reason for doing this. Companies save a lot of money on printed products because they use less ink. In fact, it's the sole reason why the PS3 logo looks the way it does now. That was Kaz Hirai's decision a few years ago.

Same font and design as Rare Ltd's. So i'm guessing MS made it and forced it upon rare.

Oh yeah, charging $60 a year to play online, watch Youtube videos, or Netflix on 360; trying to force people who have Windows 8 installed on devices to never be able to install any other OS; putting a (probably uninstallable) store directly into the operating system on the front page to further their anti-competitive practices and try to drive Steam and other services out of businesses (meanwhile stealing more money from developers with each sale than Steam would); putting ads front and center on the 360 whether you pay $60 a year for their Gold service or not, and will probably do the same thing with Windows 8 so that you have to be bombarded with ads every time you turn your computer on....

Oh yeah, those are some real nice guys, Shadi.

Secure boot is optional on X86 devices I believe. You'll be able to turn it off if you don't want it as long as it's not an ARM device(where it IS mandatory). The store is also only mandatory for Metro Apps. You can still install to the desktop as you always have without having to go through the store if you have an .exe file.

Yeah I know, but they're putting their store front and center to steal away customers, giving them an unfair advantage as publishers of the operating system. This is one of those things that I hope the European Union shoves a boot up their *** for. =P
