Sonic as Mr. Needlemouse should be a super secret unlockable.

I rather see it take on Gaurdian Heroes approach in gameplay with something a little different. It could work as a great 2d fighter and leave room for beat em up gameplay for an adventure mode. I wish Sega would've done this ages ago, Nintendo had the luxury of building up from a small cast of familiar characters, now days someone like me who's stuck in the the genesis-dreamcast era hardly recognizes all these new comers. That being said I think they should try to get reps from each popular series from their respective eras.

Maybe I'll get flack for this but I think sei & bit should be the VF rep, for one he has access to Majority of the VF characters signature moves and two he's not a strict fighting game character unless you count brawlers as fighting games.
    SMS/GG era: Alex Kidd
Genesis era: Sonic, Tails, Axel, Blaze, Sketch Turner, Vectorman, Jo Musashi, Tyris Flare, Ristar, Shadow Yamato, Max (shining force)
    CD/32x era: Espio, Knuckles
Saturn Era: Sakura, Nights, Virtua Cop Rep, Virtua-on rep, Ban, Akira, Bruno
Dreamcast Era: Shadow, Beat, Ulala, Ryo, Rent-A-Hero
Arcade: Spike, Dora (GA:RoDA), Altered Beast, Space Harrier
Xb/ps2/gc era: Sei & Bit, Billy Hatcher, Kiryu, Hibana (or Hotsuma)
Guests: Epslion Eagle, Ginjirou, Bayonetta, Sam Gideon, Jack Cayman

That's just off the top of my head, haven't really caught up to the ps360 and beyond era, still a bigger roster than I'd expect and that's just trying to stick to recognizable and niche favorites from classics -_-

I agree that Guardian Heroes is a great game to base the gameplay one. the game does not have to be another Smash to be successful.

Exactly my reason for choosing gaurdian heroes as a base! Sega is known for both it's beat em ups and (action) Platformers, GH just has that lovely middle ground and a great fighting system to boot.

I have a outdated fanmade roster if you are interested. It is huge though.

Garfield was a mistake, TBH. And it's thankfully over.

    That's quite the roster.

Though seriously, I would LOVE to see Blinx in another game. Blinx the Time Sweeper 1 and 2 were some of my favorite Xbox games.

Roster is decent, however... lack of Sakura Wars, Resonance of Fate, and Rhythm Thief content, in addition to way too many third party characters, makes me somewhat upset.
