Sonic & Knuckles MTV competition video

Enter late 1994. Sonic and Knuckles is due for an October release in the states. Sega, MTV and Blockbuster get together to promote the release of the game through a special segment on MTV called "Rock the Rock" where 25 players from around the world compete against each other in Sonic & Knuckles to win $25,000.



Although some of the video isn't that exciting, there's some brief footage of the Sega Technical Institute before they disbanded after Sonic X-Treme and a few of the developers behind Sonic & Knuckles make an appearance.

I faintly remember seeing promotional commercials of this back when I was a kid.. then I discovered it on some old (probably defunct now) Sonic fan site many years later.

I remember seeing this on tv and then I told my dad about Sonic & Knuckles, he bought it for me on my birthday and I didn't let anyone play on the Genesis.

This is too awesome! It of course, oozes 90's which I love...but it's also shot/edited decently as well.

God that's nostalgic. <:') SO NOSTALGIC. It stinks of 90's. Back when entertainment wasn't just cussing and dead people. :P Wow... not many kids on the roster there! Sonic & Knuckles was excellent. What a thrill it was then, getting a shot to play as Knuckles. We all fought over him!

I know it's a silly thing to complain about, especially now, but I can't believe they didn't give the winner or the players a copy of Sonic and Knuckles. D:

But since they were all playing pre-release versions, I guess it was understandable but this same program aired in October, the month of its release. Hm. Ah well.

This looks really cool, but I'm in school right now, so I can't watch it. I'm gonna have to watch it when I get home.

You should. 90's generation represent. No but seriously, it's really cool seeing how much our pop-culture has changed and all since then, plus seeing the staff behind the game is awesome.
