Enter late 1994. Sonic and Knuckles is due for an October release in the states. Sega, MTV and Blockbuster get together to promote the release of the game through a special segment on MTV called "Rock the Rock" where 25 players from around the world compete against each other in Sonic & Knuckles to win $25,000.
Although some of the video isn't that exciting, there's some brief footage of the Sega Technical Institute before they disbanded after Sonic X-Treme and a few of the developers behind Sonic & Knuckles make an appearance.
I faintly remember seeing promotional commercials of this back when I was a kid.. then I discovered it on some old (probably defunct now) Sonic fan site many years later.
If you've got time to spare, check it out.

No but seriously, it's really cool seeing how much our pop-culture has changed and all since then, plus seeing the staff behind the game is awesome.
