Knuckles Chaotix offcourse, 3D Blast is pretty much a stand alone spinoff and doesn't need connection with the main series. I would like if the confusion about the Death Egg Mk II (the open plot, Little Planet and the other Mk II in Sonic the Fighters) would be explained into an Episode 3 or a Sonic 5...

I don't feel 3D Blast is a spinoff game. But definitely a standalone one.

Still if anything, Episode III should link to Knuckles Chaotix.

The whole Death Egg MkII issue is a definite oversight from Dimps/Sonic Team.

Episode 3 isn't happening imo. The backlash killed it. I think if SEGA makes another 2D franchise game it'll be made by someone else and not Dimps. And I don't think it'll be called Sonic 4 Episode 3.

Let's show them how UltraHD Brohood get it done...

Can't say I have much of a problem with that. Maybe this whole Sonic 4 disaster actually got Sega thinking about whether or not they want to allow Dimps to continue making the 2D Sonic games.

Same here. Also regarding developers, they seem to be building on their communications/relationship(s) with the older fans of the fanbase (Sonic Retro in particular) with Taxman and Stealth behind the upcoming remastered Sonic 1/2 ports (which Retro is yielding much support to). There's also Blacklight, who's behind the recent slew of Sonic smartphone games Sonic Jump and Sonic Dash, which have been pretty well received so far.

Now that you mention that, I suppose at this point, not having Dimps make more 2D Sonic games wouldn't sound entirely unbelievable. They have the older fans at Sonic Retro to remaster the classics like you said, and will hopefully be allowed involvement in a brand new classic Sonic game with momentum physics. With that in mind, what would there be left for Dimps to even get involved with?

Another thing. I thought it was Hardlight that was doing the smartphone games

Yes, it was Hardlight. That was a spelling error on my behalf and I apologize for it.

I hope it'll be revealed prior to E3.
