    your site looks civilized.

    ->i give you a hint.

    try to press the buttons, and the joypad cursor at once, immediately when the system has powered up.
    now, there is not a limit.

    Huh? I thought they came built in with Hangon.

    Anyways, I think if you press up on the d-pad when you first turn it on, it brings you to a snail maze game. Sort of good to test the system (don't have a cart in, either).

    One mentioned that there is a Maze Game within the console while another states that Hang-On is built into theirs. Here's the break-down,

    If you have the first year of Master Systems you probably have the system with the Snail Maze Game built into it. You must press many random buttons at the "Insert Cartridge and Enjoy" screen. lol

    Other Master System versions had Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Hang-On and few other games built into the system. I believe on of the SMS2 consoles had Sonic the Hedghog built into it, but I'm not too sure.

    You might want to check out a website called http://www.smspower.org/ although some of the information I found there seems to be missing... The links on the bottom of their main page may also help you. My own website, http://www.tonalbliss.com/ , only features information regarding the Snail Maze Game.

    Hope this helps
