Give it a chance,you haven't even played it yet. There's more deserving titles that should get the bum rap than this title. I think its an inspired idea to marry action RPG elements to the run and gun genre. It's Diablo with guns basically and if its just as good as that than it will have my vote.

I think NiGHTS will get all the hype it needs by simply being NiGHTS. :P Also consider that this game is a notable part of SEGA's new strategy for the western market, so it's understandable that they want to bank on the new plan and try to see it to fruition.

This could be a very fun game, looking forward to hearing more on it.

I remember the original ALIEN SYNDROME back in the arcades and the slightly different MS version and this game is just a pure class title.

Although i wasn't happy in hearing its become an action RPG it sounds like they have just added to the main gameplay. I'll give it a try rateher than write it off like some people are doing.

I really don't see the title helping SEGA in any way, shape, or form. Its not just Ryan and I, the gaming press is disinterested as well. It's gonna be a flop, both critically and commercially. I don't see how thats the dumbest thing you've heard. Its just a useless filler game that no one, save yourself, wanted or wants. The original wasn't bad, but I really don't think a twenty year old, long since forgotten, franchise that was hardly a ravishing success to begin with, would help SEGA.

I realize that the budgets are handled seperately, but as SEGA, like all companies, has a finite amount of money, I think the money could be better spent elsewhere, and I personally think that a game like NiGHTS, SEGA Rally Revo or Virtua Fighter on 360 (or hell, even Crush) could use a larger advertising budget than SEGA usually allocates a game. I can think of millions of better ways (imo) to spend the money. Localizing Seaman 2, Typing of the Dead 2, Yakuza 2, ect ect.

Well its really only me and you arguing the point, and the lack of posts in this thread seems to suggest that even SEGA gamers aren't interested either.

Most sega gamers seem to be the age of ten and only intrested in Sonic that come around these boards. Older Sega gamers or actual fans rarely come to SOA anymore its only me and a couple of others that seem to hang around here and discuss anything intellectual about Sega.
As i mentioned before,Sega now has the money to create a marketing campaign like they did in the old days so it is still silly to suggest that ALIEN SYNDROME would be better spent on something else especially when the game doesn't cost that much to make and a few other Sega western games in Sega's bank vaults.

I didn't say that it was a new development, I said that its a shame.

The front page has nothing to do with the fans within it. The front page also shows off Golden Compass and I don't see tails wagging over that title (and I don't think that even Mushashi will debate that).

Most of SEGA's money these days comes from Japan, where Sonic plays a minimal role at best, though I'll grant you SOE is starting to become much more profitible than it was just a couple years ago.

honestly think they have to use that picture to get people to their mobile section? they could of used the Sega Mobile logo. They know Sonic will make people click on it.
