Default an alternative to 2d & 3d sonic games

i think using sonic rivals 1 & 2 as base models for all modern day sonic titles is the direction sonic team should take.the whole 2.5d thing seems to work better than out dated 2d or the disaster plagued 3d games with the exception of 3 sonic games.in the 2d & 2.5d games the developers pulled out all stops when it came to level design.in the 3d games level design is boring, linear, and watered down.the cameras in the 2d & 2.5d games are flawless in my opinion but when comes to the 3d games you know the deal.think about it,we've only had 3 incredible 3d sonic games.bottom line is 3d sonic titles will never be designed to perfection like the 2d games.

How can a 3D game be considered linear, but a 2D game not?

They should scrap the entire gameplay and rebuild it from the ground up.

because in the 2d games you have multiple choice on the completion of a level and you can play the same level and take a completely different path.in the 3d games not matter how many times you repeat the level its the same path.also sc:):):):):):) what made sonic what he is and starting over from the ground up is just plain dumb.

Then why not simply add multiple paths to the 3D games? It can be done.

But has it happened yet? no! Most likely because of limitations. This is one of the biggest complaints when it comes to 3d sonic games and has been since sonic adventure on dreamcast.Has it changed? no! Every 2d sonic game is made this way but none of the 3d games are.

The reason is pure laziness on Sonic Team's part. Like I said, multiple paths in 3D Sonic games can be done.

what ever the case everyone knows sonic is better in 2d than 3d period.so 2.5d would work like the 2d sonic games did but with updated 3d.and that my friend is a very good look.sonic games are only fun because of the dramatic speed and twisting rollercoaster like level designs.sadly the 3d games do a poor job of delivering the type of action and excitement the 2d games are exploding with.when they try a 3d sonic game we get rip offs of a sonic adventure 1 and mario sunshine mixed like next-gen sonic.

You have yet to give a reason not to make it just plain 2D.

What part of "It can be done in 3D" don't you understand? The dramatic speed, excellent platforming and rollercoaster-esque level designs can be done in 3D if done correctly.

actually i did.i said because 2d is out dated and i would hope that you agree a game made in the fashion of rivals would be alot more appealing then 2d games like rush.people want fast flashy 3d graphics.
