Thread: Online play exploits

The exploits are an issue when playing online. Offline you can counter it on-sight, as there is no lag; but this doesn't translate online. Don't understand me wrong, I'm more than impressed by the netcode VF5 offers.

I'd like to address the following online error as well, which occurs more frequently than I want it to.

"An error has occured. This may be the result of a problem such as being disconnected from Xbox Live."

It comes much more frequently now, and it's getting on my nerves. As far as my Xbox Live experience reach back this never happened to any game. My router is perfectly set up, my Internet connection is more than good, and every other Xbox Live game that I own works at the time when this error message occurs in VF5. As well, Xbox Live works like a charm and is up online; but this error still occurs from time to time. Thus, it must be problem down to this particular game, VF5.

    As well:
    1. Why is it not possible to go back to the character selection screen in a private match, so that you don't have to quit the running session selecting another char of your choice?
    2. Why is it not possible to change the stage in a private match?

Biggest problem for me is complete lack of control over who challenges me in ranked online.

Majority of players in vf online are currently either from US, or Japan, and nearly 100% of these matches are horribly laggy to me due to me living in Finland. Id like to fight only within Europe but if I create a session there is nothing preventing someone with 1 second lag (or more) connection challenging me, spamming something stupid and winning the match. Allow the players some control over what region they play in.

VF online would need a filter for connection speed badly. Or some other form of control over who do I have to fight.

ps. I am indeed impressed by how well the matches work when there is good connection, but playing across the globe is still not a good idea.

on topic: I have experienced cable-pullers in ranked matches, but quite frankly it is NOTHING compared to the problem I described above.

Default SEGA please listen to the VFDCers

Gotta fix the pulling issue. Must give a loss to someone who pulls in a deciding round!

That's the board to look at. Those are REAL fans who CARE!

There may not be a ton of votes but it's enough to tell that people hate pulling! Fix it, it's so simple and easy! Just do it!

Also sometimes you have to wait really long if you open a game. It would be nice if it could be like the arcade where you play VS the CPU in arcade mode until somebody joins your room. Like if 2 Player presses start and new chellanger comes is diplayed and you fight VS online.

Im missing like everyone else the recording of replays, its just a must in every mode: arcade, quest, VS offline and VS online. If something funny happens or if you have a problem and you want to ask for advice, if you had a really good match, or just want to check back how bad you played a few month ago, there are so many reasons why replays are important.

The room creaton has to be more complex. It needs player adjustable: Ping filter & Rank filter. Even Kwon Ho a bad VF clone had more room creaton features. Also when creating a room online getting thrown out of it after the battle to create it again just sux. Why can't the game itself recreate the room automatically? If you don't want to play anymore you just leave the room. Or better the ability to change the settings while waiting for other players and if they don't agree they have a funktion to leave the room.

I think the game needs an online lobby system too so that you can spectate other players playing. I mean, imagine how great it would be to have tutorial sessions online so that EVERYONE could take part?

As this happens much too often to everyone: what is behind the error message "Unable to Join Session." ?

hi, i agree with everyone here that the issue with pullers simply HAS to be addressed, it's ridiculous.

i also would like for there to be a replay feature for online matches, this is almost a must have, many times ive played against a particular opponents who had unconventional setups and strategies which i couldnt figure out during game play, having a replay feature would allow myself and others to address issues that we have when playing online(looking for bad patterns in our play and the like).

even though the netcode you guys are using is superb and by far kills anything ive played for any other fighting game (thank you, truly )
it can still be improved. no online fighter will be taken seriously with more than 1-5 frames of lag by hardcore players (which means that new players wont be willing to learn it cause lack of good competition). preferably 1 frame of lag but i dont know if thats possible.

currently i'm experiencing between 10-20 frames of lag which is still very playable but but not to be taken seriously imho.

ex. lau players with 50-60% win records that use nothing but ppp2k and rarely get punished even when they get the 2k blocked.
it's frustrating to play against, even more so to lose to.

being able to watch the best take on each other via some sort of lobby would be advisable also.

IMHO all of these things WILL happen to online fighting games, and they WILL become standard same as the training room, its just up to sega, capcom, whoever to take up the reigns and show the industry that they are the LEADER when it comes to pushing the envelope and giving the gamers what they want. if you build it they WILL come, and it WILL be very profitable. gamers such as myself have been waiting 7 years or so for these and other changes to be made. so, the question becomes what are YOU guys waiting for.

i myself have NEVER been a virtua fighter fan, i only play this because of the "better than any other fighter, online play" that right there should show you how powerful a good gaming environment is.

halo 3 is a GREAT example of how you guys should be approaching online play with the massive amount of goodies they have for there online gamers (stats tracking replays etc.) also imho giving back in the form of tournaments (and cash prizes as an incentive) is a must. see blizzard if you disagree. there so many tournaments you guys could do, 1round tournys, caharacter specific tournys, team tournys(which would be great with the inclusion of friends we've made from xbox live!) low rank tournies etc.

and finally, i have become a straight up fan of vf now and so would like some new TIGHT clothes to put on my akira so that when i come to duke it out my dude dont look like some peasant :):):) fisherman wearing A,B,C, and D standard issue rags ( would some hair thingies like what lau's got be too much to ask???) how about some armor like I'm going to war back in the day? we know youve got them cause weve seen the screenshots from the arcade.

GIVE THEM TO US!!! i'm more than willing to fork out 1200 or more MS points to get my dude a fresh new pair of nikes

and how about a 15 point limit instead of 10, if i want my guy to be blingd up with two lights, a sign, a bazooka, and a couple of wmd's stashed under his flourescent blue gi. then thats my right isnt it??
