I've had problems in the past with ANY game where someone can quit to avoid a loss. It flaws the ranking. People either need to be scored on a third category (win, loss, and draw/disconnect) or just take the loss for disconnects.
I've accidentally been disconnected before using this system and received my 1 loss. I was initially angry but not at the game but rather my ISP. 1 loss is just 1 loss if you're LEGITIMATELY getting disconnected.
The only challenge to discouraging people from dc'ing to avoid a loss is making sure that there's no way to force SOMEONE ELSE to disconnect. I have seen this in other online games with ranking systems and it wasn't pretty.
