Regarding Omega

I've noticed there is a pole asking about his appearances, or lack thereof. It did get me wondering: The E-Series ran off of animal power, correct? So.... How did Omega even restart after waiting all those years? Surely the little critter would be dead by then.

Did they stick another poor, helpless creature inside him? And doesn't the animal, as seen in Gamma, have influence as to whether they obtain free will? Wouldn't changing said animal have a drastic affect on the robots personality?

eggman stopped using animal power officially in sonic heroes, when he switched to "power cores" (those circles that level up your characters). i can assume omega uses "power cores" also

I'm unsure! they found Omega after all, he'd been locked up for a bit when they found him, so what did Eggy use? There are the power cores, but that was more like a recent thing, so would Omega really have one if he'd not been bothered with after so much time?
