Silver tried to throw an item at Sonic with his powers, but Sonic homing attacked him, making him fall off the cliff and into a vat of acid and Silver died.

But in reallity right after we learned it was actually a plot by Blockade to kill Sawnik, Blockade was the true bearer of Shadow child.
