Hello everyone. It's been a long time, hasn't it?
I can finally let you all in on the details of my latest project, BAYONETTA. BAYONETTA is a world-class 3D action game for the world at large, the summation of all of our technology and know-how here at PlatinumGames

Speaking of 3D action games, I can’t help but remember a time nearly seven years ago, and my first completely original game, Devil May Cry. My own immaturity towards game design filled it with straight-forward, pure ideas. It has become my defining work, a game that drew the roadmap for all 3D action games that followed.

Now, seven years later, I’ve decided to return to 3D action. I’m sure some of you are asking... Why is he making another 3D action game?

After DMC, I went on to develop Viewtiful Joe. In pursuing a new way of creating an action game within the limitations of 2D stages, it was a game that was ahead of its time. It was a game that spawned a love-hate response amongst users; however, as a game developed by a small team, its flaws can be forgiven as a bold experiment that achieved its initial goals.
Okami was a change of gears. My attempt to make a “Nature Adventure” game based upon the theme of healing, it also represented an effort to broaden my own personal abilities. Even though it is labeled an adventure, we succeeded in making a grand journey that represented a progression for us in every way, from its text-heavy story to our trademark brand of action controls.

With these two completely different games, I sought out the new, making them as groundbreaking as possible; however, I never forgot my love of action games. In fact, my love grew stronger. So once development of Okami was completed, it marked a turning point, and a return to the Devil of seven years past – a return to my starting point of 3D action. Once again, the fires of creation were lit inside me.

How have 3D action games evolved since we blazed a new trail with DMC? Can you even go so far as to say they’ve evolved?
Seven years ago, we put everything we had into Devil May Cry. But since then, like the hands of time for the 3D action genre were frozen at that moment, it seems like the drive to push users further has stopped. There is so much more that should be done now. And we are the only ones who seem up to the task. This is the spark that has lit the fire within me.

“Pushing 3D Action to a New Dimension”

With that goal in mind, we are going to set the clock on 3D action back into motion. Where we once gave birth to true 3D action, we return to unleash a new truth on the world. A truth only we can create.

We will prove this with BAYONETTA.

Believe us. It will be worth the wait.

The DMC series is the defacto leader in action games. I very much look forward to the original team creating a new game to set a new standard for action games.

Man I cant wait to see what he does next the guy has some of the best ideas in gameing.
“I like this energy, so it’s ok with me," he said. "If I had to choose money or energy, I would choose energy.” Nishigaki was never one to dwell on sales figures and once commented, “If one person likes Illbleed, then to me, it’s a success.”
