I think you can play every game made for the Cube on Wii... I've never tried.

I wanted a Gamecube, but then I discovered that the Wii can play them too. And if your poor like me and can't me and can't afford Wii games, the Gamecube games are your best bet Plus you can say that you play on a Wii

Get Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Viewtiful Joe, and Mario Kart: Double Dash. I haven't played Metroid Prime 1 or 2, and also haven't played Zelda: Wind Waker. I HAVE played Metroid Prime 3 and Hunters though, they're awesome. And I have played a lot of the NES, SNES, N64, and Wii Zelda games, just not the Gamecube one.

Wind Waker is a good game. Other good games are F-Zero, Animal Crossing, and Mario Sunshine.

The few games(or was it just 1) that used the Gamecube's online adaptor might not work, but I doubt there's any sort of existing online community left anyway.

I think only the PSO games (Episodes 1-3) and Mario Kart: Double Dash used it. I'm sure one could find private servers in the PSO games. Not sure about Double Dash.
