Hey guys,
This version of Strider had me wondering for years. When I first got my Genesis back in '91, I went to one of those old mom and pop stores and rented this game. It was a little different than the version that most people have played. But I can't seem to find the version that I rented. I remember it being somewhat harder than the one we here in the US play. ![]() The image above was the one I played. I'm 100% positive. The red circles are the differences in the version. The blowing leaves were one thing I remember, because they beat me up pretty good. I can't find this anywhere. I bought 8 different cartridges with NO success. Thanks. |

Good to know someone else likes Strider Hiryu like I do, very underrated game. That cool though never really notice that, but no I don't think it does happen in the U.S. genesis cartrige. I had the genesis cartrige and Strider 2 pack for psx, I can't remember but didn't it do that on the psx cd. I believe the PSX version was an arcade copy.

Yeah, I haven't seen this version since then. I can't even remember the name of the store that I rented it from. All I know is that it's been driving me crazy. And I remember this version being alot harder. I couldn't get past the first level because those blowing leaves, or whatever they were, kept smacking me around.

That screenshot must be of a prototype version. Check out the 123456 score!

I'm sure it wasn't the master system version. It might be a prototype version, but I remember playing that exact one. though the score and time wasn't the same. I also remember that you pressed A to swing the sword, B to jump and C to slide. The soundtrack and everything was the same. I still remember it because this was my favorite game the minute I played it. Has been my favorite since.
It just boggles me how this video store would have got this version of the game. Maybe it was an accident, but they darn sure had it. |
