Random CTDs MSVCR80.dll

Hi, i recently bought a new computer and Empire Total War (+the units DLC) and patched the game. The computer is brand new and I have never used or modded empire until 1.3 patch came out.

However, I've never been able to get it to work correctly. I play a grand campaign and my game crashes to desktop randomly during a battle or on the campaign map. On average, it can take
up to 8-9 turns when i start a new campaign to start crashing and then it crashes every 3-4 turns i'd say. I have several games and Empire is the only one that crashes. I attached the error
signature and my computer specs at the end of my messsage. Note that everything is up tp date and virus/spyware free Here is what i've tried to do so far:

-Reinstalling game
-Reinstalling steam
-Checked for viruses and spywares
-Changing some video settings
-Deleting the empire script in the roaming/appdata/the creative assmemble/.... folder (sega's solution)
-Playing with different factions
-Trying to discover some sort of pattern causing the bug
-Googling or searching the error message on different forums (and reading stickies and sega knowlegebase)
-Opening 2 tickets to Sega about 2 weeks ago
-Manually downloading the DLL and putting it in windows data and empire folder.

I have seen many people having crashes with this error message but no solutions. I'm hoping someone found a solution that works and could share it here. I am getting aggravated because no one
should have to work this hard to get something they bought to work.

If you have the same problem, feel free to post what you have tried that worked or didnt work so we can get more info on this bug. If we don't find a solution, at least we'll have a list of people
that can ask for a refund together.

Myself and a lot of others with an i7 system get this. Very frustrating and no set fix as yet. Try setting your in game sound to stereo, Affinity in the task manager set only 0 core is ticked. I can for a few more turns but still CTD's. 1.3 and 1.3.1 patches have broken the game for me and the looks you two.

Shelving it to a fix is out as lack of help from the "Official Forum" is a hopless. Try your luck in the tech help. I've got one I keep bumping with same issue hoping to get help.

What finally improved things quite a bit for me:
• turned off SSAO in graphics menu ETW
• increased reserved space for game: Increaseuserva 3072 (look command up in forum)
• Uninstalled Linksys wireless manager
• Turned off Superfetch
• Turned off indexing
• Fast UserSwitching disabled
• Hibernate computer disabled
Weird as it seems, the last 2 seem to have helped the most.
I have I7 and Vista Home premium as well.
