Sega-Sammy is the whole problem, Sega should have found a better company to merge with, sammy's pachinko sales are dwindling, and they are living off sega like a leech and bringing them down, if sega split from sammy, the possibility of a new console would be greater.

It's never one or the other. It's always a mix of the two.

Who would have thought that Sonic would have continued to be profitable WAY after his prime thus making it a necessary business plan because they haven't focused their energy and resources on any other franchise since Shinobi came out in 2001 and the half-hearted attempt to reinvigerate the Golden Axe franchise.

So it's the dumb public giving Sega a cash incentive and Sega burning out their mascot with an outdated plan.

I have to pick both again. It's crucial for a company to continue to fund its own research and development teams. Without them they will have to farm out the development work to more expensive engineering firms which will not only charge them a large amount in labor costs but will want to keep some of the royalties for themselves.

Theme parks on the other hand are a little strange....I don't know what do think of them yet. I hope they make Sega some money but they attempted this numerous times back in the day......(Sega world in Europe).....who knows what they are thinking or what will happen next. I'm just pleased to see a brand new Arcade board I wonder what games will be developed for it.

I wish Sega merged with SNK.......I think that would be one amazing team up.

Sega-SNK Partnership

Sega and SNK are like minded companies in some ways. It would've been nice to see that sort of merging

Isn't it the other way around?

Well, so far there's Border Break and Shining Force Cross. Border Break looks cool on account of robotic coop and varying class styles.

Sega merged with sammy because at the time sega dident have any coin, and sammy did, unfortunatly there were also alot of better suiters wanting the merge with sega or buy them over (microsoft) but for some reason that never happend.

Fast forward to 2009, pachinko sales are low and sega is carrying the company, sega-sammy keeps reporting losses due to low pachinko sales.

^ They should just drop the Pachinko machines and concentrate on something else.
